A brand identity for the planning tool in healthcare

Matrickx is a planning tool for the (para-) medical work field (more specifically: for doctors, medical assistants, research assistants and laboratory technicians). It was developed because there was no suitable and effective planning tool for this environment. The developers initially developed the tool for personal use. Due to the enthusiasm of their colleagues, the tool was used more and more by other professionals in the field and a software company and a commercial product was created.

Matrickx is the best answer to every planning question. With Matrickx, every planner gets more out of the planning. Organizations run more smoothly, a lot of time is saved, and every doctor (assistant) gets the planning that suits him. The result: more control, less hassle, and more job satisfaction.

The challenges

  • There is currently no design identity and a suitable logo for Matrickx.
  • Planning is associated with complexity.
  • (Due to its history, the focus has always been on the technological development of the tool and not on business, marketing and communication strategies. So nothing has been developed regarding marketing and communication, except for the current logo and a brief website.)

To stand out from the competition, we chose to create a style that is fresh, contemporary, smart, and slightly challenging. We did this to free Matrickx of its associations with complexity, dullness, and staleness.

For the design of the logo, I used a lot of different design approaches, in collaboration with the client. Below you can see the process of the different designs that we considered and eventually left behind us.
